What tin can you recycle?
Driblet-off your drinking glass bottles and jars (any color) used for food, beverages, candles, perfumes or colognes at any of our nineteen drop-off boxes located across Erie County, PA. Containers must be rinsed of residue and gratis of corks, caps, and lids. We cannot take other glass products because they are made or composed differently than container drinking glass. Learn about drinking glass items we cannot recycle and why.
Food & Drinkable
Fragrance & Oils
Candle Jars
Not all glass is the aforementioned.
Glass beverage bottles and food jars are 100% recyclable and can be recycled incessantly without any loss in purity or quality, but not all drinking glass is the same.
Other types of drinking glass items are made differently than bottles and jars. They have dissimilar melting points and material compositions and should never be mixed with bottle and jar recycling programs. The items not accepted in the Prism glass recycling program are:
- Drinking or vino glasses, cups and plates
- Ceramics, Pyrex or other oestrus resistant glass
- Light bulbs or fluorescent tubes
- Reckoner monitors, phone screens, old TV tubes
- Plate glass: windows, sliding doors, flick frame drinking glass
- Safety drinking glass, auto windshields
- Art glass and leaded crystal
- Trophies, ashtrays, and vases
- Mirrors
These items will crusade drinking glass recyclers to refuse whole loads of drinking glass and ship them to a landfill. This defeats the purpose of recycling and is why it is so important that you place only glass bottles and jars in the Prism drinking glass recycling drop-boxes.
If you lot have further questions on glass recycling, please contact united states at info@prismrecycling.com. Y'all tin can as well visit the Drinking glass Packaging Institute website for a deeper dive into drinking glass recycling at www.gpi.org/recycling.
